Although the <strong>FBI<\/strong> managed to recover part of the funds, this case demonstrates the risks and complexity of digital asset-related fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The FBI are pursuing a Nigerian man who scammed a donor to the Trump inauguration of $250,300.<br><br>The FBI have recovered $40,353 and are seeking his arrest. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4PpXZr5C96\">pic.twitter.com\/4PpXZr5C96<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Africa Facts Zone (@AfricaFactsZone) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AfricaFactsZone\/status\/1941845436647588070?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 6, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to court documents, the fraudster created a <strong>fake email address<\/strong> resembling that of the Trump-Witkoff inaugural committee. He successfully convinced a donor to transfer $250,000 worth of USDT.ETH to his wallet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the criminal subsequently took steps to launder his illicit gains, the FBI was able to recover and freeze <strong>40,300 USDT.<a href=\"https:\/\/investx.fr\/en\/crypto-investing\/buy\/ethereum\/\">ETH<\/a><\/strong>, half of which was found in a Binance account under the name of <strong>Ehiremen Aigbokhan<\/strong>, a Lagos-based fraudster also known as a <strong>&#8220;yahoo boy.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"trumps-ally-faces-challenges-recovering-funds\">Trump&#8217;s Ally Faces Challenges Recovering Funds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office is now seeking to return these recovered funds to the victim. Unfortunately, more than $210,000 in cryptocurrency sent to the scammer has not yet been recovered :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;All donors must double-check that they are sending <a href=\"https:\/\/investx.fr\/en\/crypto-investing\/\">cryptocurrency<\/a> to the intended recipient,&#8221; U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro said in a statement. &#8220;It can be extremely difficult for law enforcement to recover lost funds due to the extreme complexity of the blockchain.
