They then claimed that Storm&#8217;s tool was used to <strong>launder $600 million<\/strong> stolen by the North Korean Lazarus group. According to them, this constitutes a violation of US sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Storm&#8217;s attorney, Keri Axel, painted an entirely different picture. She explained that her client, a young immigrant fascinated by blockchain, had simply <strong>followed the advice of <a href=\"https:\/\/investx.fr\/en\/learn\/crypto\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> founder Vitalik Buterin<\/strong> in creating a privacy tool. Tornado Cash, she argued, was a neutral protocol, like Signal or a hammer, that could be used for malicious purposes without Storm being responsible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"code-rather-than-crimes\">Code Rather Than Crimes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The defense sought to convince jurors that Storm was <strong>just a developer, not a criminal.<\/strong> She explained in detail how Tornado Cash works, emphasizing its decentralized and open nature.
