For the first time in four years, the Omaha<\/strong>-based conglomerate has allowed its war chest to shrink. And this is no coincidence: behind the decline in reserves lie moves of rare magnitude, record-breaking profits, and capital allocation decisions that deserve a close read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Record Profits, But the Cash Pile Finally Shrinks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the second quarter of 2025, Berkshire Hathaway<\/strong> reported a net profit of $25.67 billion<\/strong>, more than double the $12.37 billion recorded a year earlier. Operating earnings excluding investment gains<\/strong> rose 16.3%<\/strong>, climbing from $11.16 billion to $12.98 billion \u2014 a solid performance that speaks to the underlying strength of the group’s core businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
