Allegations of <strong>misconduct<\/strong> and rumors of <strong>suspicious activities<\/strong> quickly tarnished the company&#8217;s reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The collapse of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24OM&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$OM<\/a> was unlike anything I\u2019ve witnessed over my 8 years in this market. This set off the entire cascade. The <strong>initial drop below $5<\/strong> was triggered by a <strong>short position of about $1 million<\/strong> that was sold on the market. This led to <strong>over 5% price slippage<\/strong> in a few microseconds. That was the trigger. It seems intentional to me. Source: TradingView<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After causing this initial anomaly, the trader continued to <strong>liquidate their short positions<\/strong> at five-second intervals, fueling the overall collapse. As these successive sales continued on Binance, the OKX spot market recorded a <strong>discount of nearly 20%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"when-one-trader-can-tip-the-scales-of-a-market\"><strong>When One Trader Can Tip the Scales of a Market<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This <strong>peculiar behavior on OKX<\/strong> was caused by a massive whale. By placing a <strong>limit order for sale<\/strong>, the seller was able to specify the minimum price at which they were willing to part with their OM tokens. This order only executes when the market price reaches or exceeds this threshold. Meanwhile, the order remained open in the order book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This individual successfully kept the <strong>price stable on OKX<\/strong> for over a minute, enticing market makers and <strong>arbitrage bots<\/strong> to buy the assets despite the <strong>panic in the broader <a href=\"https:\/\/investx.fr\/en\/crypto-investing\/\">crypto market<\/a><\/strong>. In this manner, the manipulator was able to <strong>get rid of their OM tokens<\/strong> while the collapse was ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, the issue is not that OM collapsed due to a malicious actor seeking to cause a catastrophe. The real concern is that <strong>a single entity could manipulate the markets to such an extent<\/strong>. For such an attack to work, the seemingly high liquidity of the OM token had to be <strong>much more fragile than anticipated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Many people hesitating about meme coins reaching billions, or even the $100B dream target.<br><br>1) People have forgotten than majority of retail, even with good degrees and high IQ, think that a $0.00001 token is cheaper than other that is $0.10.
