According to Mr. Hougan, this trend is driven by <strong>several key factors<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Improvement in crypto infrastructure:<\/strong> the development of custody, liquidity, and regulatory tools reassures institutional investors, allowing them to invest safely.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Portfolio diversification:<\/strong> facing market volatility, Bitcoin appears as an asset with low correlation to traditional assets, making it an excellent diversification tool.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Search for high returns:<\/strong> despite price cycles, Bitcoin has historically generated impressive performances, attracting institutional investors in search of returns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-impacts-of-institutional-adoption-for-bitcoin\"><strong>The Impacts of Institutional Adoption for Bitcoin<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The influx of institutional investors into the <a href=\"https:\/\/investx.fr\/en\/crypto-news\/bitcoin-btc-break-all-time-high-2025\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> market will have <strong>profound repercussions<\/strong> on the ecosystem, according to Mr. Hougan: <em>&#8220;We will see an increase in liquidity, stability, and maturity in the Bitcoin market.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, traded <strong>volumes<\/strong> are expected to increase significantly, promoting better price discovery and greater <strong>resilience<\/strong> against volatility. It&#8217;s an admission of failure\u2026 we are sucking cryptocurrencies into the current traditional system,&#8221;<\/em> he stated. He adds that Bitcoin will likely reach peaks thanks to these institutions, but it is a sign of weakness. He advocates focusing first on <strong>technological innovations<\/strong> to address utility issues like payment methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, institutions are keeping their BTC on exchanges or with players like <strong>BlackRock<\/strong> through <strong>ETFs<\/strong>. This custody generates <em>\u201ccustody fees\u201d<\/em>. These fees are usually recurring (monthly or yearly) and can be fixed or proportional to the value of BTC held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since these fees are often charged in fiat currency (e.g., USD) or sometimes in BTC, they reduce the total value of Bitcoin assets over time. For example, if an institution charges <strong>1%<\/strong> per year on 10 BTC (worth $60,000 each), that amounts to <strong>$6,000<\/strong> in annual fees. If the BTC price remains stable, after 10 years, these cumulative fees ($60,000) are equivalent to <strong>the loss of a whole BTC.<\/strong> This leads to <strong>long-term erosion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless, the entry of institutional investors into the BTC  market marks a <strong>major turning point<\/strong> in the history of the first cryptocurrency. While this development raises some questions, it also paves the way for greater maturity and <strong>legitimacy<\/strong> in the ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bitcoin enthusiasts must remain vigilant to preserve <strong>the principles of <a href=\"https:\/\/investx.fr\/en\/crypto-news\/top-defi-cryptocurrencies-buy-march-2025\/\">decentralization<\/a><\/strong> that are the strength of this revolutionary network.
