According to Jurrien Timmer, Global Macro Director at Fidelity, the flagship <a href=\"https:\/\/investx.fr\/en\/learn\/crypto\/\">cryptocurrency<\/a> is now <strong>ready to succeed gold<\/strong> as the reference safe-haven value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ironically, gold and bitcoin are negatively correlated to each other. As the chart below shows, both assets have been taking turns lately, as measured by their Sharpe Ratios. From the looks of it, it may well be bitcoin\u2019s turn to take the lead, given that its Sharpe Ratio is\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yhTDRemt3e\">pic.twitter.com\/yhTDRemt3e<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Jurrien Timmer (@TimmerFidelity) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TimmerFidelity\/status\/1918315541577576676?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 2, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This statement is based on a key observation: the <strong>Sharpe ratio of Bitcoin,<\/strong> an indicator measuring <strong>risk-adjusted returns<\/strong>, is gradually converging with that of gold. This statistical convergence signals that the historically high <strong>volatility<\/strong> of BTC is becoming <strong>more acceptable<\/strong> for institutional investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;I am fascinated to see that the asset most negatively correlated with Bitcoin remains&#8230; gold,&#8221; says Timmer. &#8220;It&#8217;s paradoxical for two instruments playing in the same team of store of value.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>While Bitcoin started the year 2025 relatively flat (<strong>+3.84%<\/strong>) compared to gold&#8217;s <strong>30.33%<\/strong> surge, the situation has reversed since April. The clarity on trade policies and the Federal Reserve&#8217;s easing have, in fact, <strong>strengthened inflows<\/strong> towards <strong>Bitcoin ETFs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Bitcoin Suisse&#8217;s study, this momentum could initiate an <strong>&#8220;acceleration phase&#8221;<\/strong> for BTC. The crypto-asset is indeed proving to be a &#8220;Swiss army knife&#8221; capable of adapting to <strong>&#8220;risk-on&#8221;<\/strong> (risk-taking) and <strong>&#8220;risk-off&#8221;<\/strong> (risk aversion) phases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;Bitcoin acts as a Swiss army knife in the markets: it adapts as much to stock market rallies as it does to bond market downturns. Very few traditional assets can claim the same,&#8221; says Dominic Weibei, Bitcoin Suisse&#8217;s research director.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"towards-historical-highs-beyond-250000\">Towards Historical Highs Beyond $250,000 ?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many analysts believe that <a href=\"https:\/\/investx.fr\/en\/crypto-news\/bitcoin-inflation-hedge-2025-btc\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> could reach new historical records by the end of 2025. Among the most optimistic scenarios, a model based on the gold\/Bitcoin valuation sets the target at <strong>$444,000<\/strong> if BTC realigns against the total value of gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A more conservative yet deemed &#8220;reasonable&#8221; forecast aims for a target price of <strong>$220,000<\/strong> according to analyst Apsk32. With a comparable Sharpe ratio and performance aligned with macroeconomic trends, BTC appears <strong>legitimate<\/strong> for portfolio diversification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the technical specifics and inherent risks of <a href=\"https:\/\/investx.fr\/en\/crypto-investing\/\">cryptocurrency<\/a> must be understood.
