As security experts have warned, Bitcoin and quantum computing represent an existential risk that demands urgent attention.

However, modifying the Bitcoin consensus is a slow, politically sensitive process that requires near-unanimous agreement from all stakeholders — miners, developers, and full node operators.
On the hashrate question, some analysts argue that rising transaction fees — driven by protocols such as Ordinals and Runes — could restore sufficient economic incentive for miners to remain on Bitcoin rather than pivot to AI. In 2024, fees temporarily accounted for more than 30% of mining revenue during peaks in on-chain activity. This dynamic reflects broader trends in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, where institutional adoption continues to accelerate and create new revenue streams.
