BlackRock has just published a research note that repositions Ethereum at the center of a new paradigm: autonomous payments between AI agents. Meanwhile, ETH is consolidating after a rally of more than 10% over seven days, with key technical levels to watch closely.
The asset management giant is no longer talking about stablecoins as a simple transfer tool — it now presents them as the settlement infrastructure of the machine economy. A shift in narrative that could carry significant weight for ETH’s valuation over the medium term.
Between a deep institutional catalyst and uncertain short-term price action, here is what the data is really saying.
BlackRock and “Agentic Commerce”: Why Ethereum Is in the Spotlight
In its latest research note, BlackRock — which manages several trillion dollars in assets — theorizes the emergence of what it calls “agentic commerce”: artificial intelligence systems that execute transactions with one another, without any human intervention. For these machine-to-machine flows, stablecoins are emerging as the natural settlement rail, and Ethereum as well as Circle’s Arc are explicitly cited as candidate infrastructures.
This is not a trivial signal. When a firm of this scale treats AI-to-AI payments as a serious investment thesis — rather than a technological curiosity — it fundamentally changes the nature of the debate. The question is no longer “will this happen?” but “which blockchain will capture the fees?” Ethereum, with its dominant stablecoin ecosystem (USDC, USDT, DAI) and deep liquidity, starts with a structural head start.
One critical unknown remains: the actual volume of these AI transactions is not yet reflected in Ethereum’s fee revenues. The narrative is running ahead of the on-chain data, which makes it essential to distinguish long-term potential from today’s market reality.

ETH Technical Analysis: The Levels Defining the Next Move
ETH is trading around $2,695, down 2.6% over 24 hours, but still up 10.3% over seven days and 7.1% over thirty days. Market capitalization stands at approximately $329 billion, with a daily trading volume of $16.71 billion. The price structure looks more like a post-rally consolidation than a bearish reversal.
On the support side, the $2,542–$2,550 zone — close to the 50-week moving average — represents the floor that must hold at all costs. A break below this level would shift focus to $2,533, and then to the $2,450 area. As long as this support holds, the bullish structure remains intact.
To the upside, the first obstacle sits at $2,672, already cleared during the most recent move. Holding above this level would open the door toward $2,805, identified as the next major breakout level. If buyers maintain control beyond that point, the following targets are positioned in the $2,950–$3,000 range, then $3,150–$3,250. That represents an 11% move from current levels to $3,000 — solid, but not exceptional for an asset with a $329 billion market cap.
What Investors Should Really Be Watching
The BlackRock catalyst is real, but expectations need to be calibrated. The adoption of AI payments in stablecoins on Ethereum is a medium-to-long-term phenomenon, not an immediate price driver. The metrics to monitor in order to validate the thesis are: the evolution of on-chain fee revenues, the growth of stablecoin volumes on the network, and partnership announcements between AI agent protocols and Ethereum infrastructure.
On the institutional flows front, BlackRock‘s publication is part of a broader trend: major asset managers are progressively integrating digital assets into their analytical frameworks. This positioning typically precedes actual allocations, which gives Ethereum a window of narrative credibility before the numbers confirm — or disprove — the thesis.
In the meantime, the $2,542–$2,550 zone remains the key short-term technical barometer. Holding above it keeps the bullish scenario alive. A break below would send a warning signal that the market is not yet ready to absorb the AI narrative, however compelling it may look on paper.
