When Former BitMEX Boss Flips His Position on HYPE
The crypto world is often full of surprises, and Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, is no exception. After making a highly optimistic prediction about the potential of the HYPE token last August, Hayes finally decided to liquidate everything to buy himself a brand-new Ferrari. A decision that raises many questions about this project’s prospects.
Indeed, according to blockchain data, Arthur Hayes recently sold his entire HYPE holdings, the native token of the decentralized trading platform Hyperliquid. This operation allowed him to pocket over $823,000 in profits, representing a 19.2% gain on his initial investment.
Hayes himself announced this sale on social media, stating that he needed the money “to pay the down payment on the new Rari 849 Testarossa.” A Ferrari Testarossa that can fetch up to $590,000 on the market.
A 126x Prediction on HYPE That Never Materialized
Just a month earlier, Arthur Hayes had been extremely bullish on HYPE’s prospects. During the WebX 2025 conference in Tokyo, the former BitMEX boss had indeed predicted that the token’s price could explode 126 times in the next 3 years.
According to him, the continued depreciation of fiat currencies would stimulate the stablecoin market’s expansion and propel Hyperliquid’s annualized revenue to $255 billion, compared to just $1.2 billion at the time.
What to Do Now with HYPE?
Although he realized substantial gains on his investment, Arthur Hayes added today that he still believed HYPE could explode in the coming years. However, according to him, the vesting schedules of 29 million HYPE tokens and growing competition from DEXs (such as Binance-backed Aster) constitute major obstacles.
It’s worth noting that Hayes has previously faced numerous criticisms for his bold predictions regarding the cryptocurrency market. When interviewed by Cointelegraph last June, he admitted that he doesn’t worry much when his forecasts prove incorrect.
This episode once again illustrates the volatility and unpredictability of the crypto market. While analyses and forecasts from influential figures like Arthur Hayes can provide interesting insights, they should be taken with a grain of salt.
How to Buy HYPE?
Currently falling below $48, the token has experienced a correction of nearly 20% but remains above its 50-day moving average. Accumulating through DCA could therefore offer substantial returns in the coming months. Here’s how to easily buy it on Zoomex:
- Registration: Create an account on Zoomex with email and secure password. Complete KYC (ID verification) to unlock deposits/withdrawals.
- Fund Deposit: Access your wallet and fund it via credit card, SEPA transfer, or crypto transfer (USDT/BTC). Fees <1%, instant for cryptos.
- Select HYPE/USDT Pair: In the Spot market, search for HYPE/USDT. Verify liquidity (monthly volumes >$3B).
- Place Buy Order: Market order (~$47) or limit order at $40 support. Allocate 2-5% of your portfolio.
