The Ethereum Foundation has just announced a new addition to its board of directors: Pascal Caversaccio, a widely recognized figure in on-chain security and the author of the Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto.
The appointment comes as ETH trades around $1,920, a pivotal technical zone that could determine the market’s next directional move.
Strengthened governance, censorship resistance, and a key resistance level at $1,930 — here is what this development concretely changes for Ethereum.
Pascal Caversaccio, known on-chain under the pseudonym pcaversaccio, is joining the Ethereum Foundation‘s board of directors for an initial one-year term on a voluntary basis. He joins Aya Miyaguchi, Vitalik Buterin, and Swiss attorney Patrick Storchenegger on this four-member board, whose role is to define the Foundation’s strategic vision and oversee its management.
Caversaccio’s profile is anything but ordinary. Co-founder of SEAL 911 — a security incident response initiative within the Ethereum ecosystem — he is also a member of the Silviculture Society, the Foundation’s internal group dedicated to censorship resistance, privacy, and open-source development. His Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto crystallized a radically decentralized vision of the network, pushing back against compromises seen as overly institutional.
This appointment sends a clear message: the Foundation intends to reaffirm its commitment to Ethereum’s original cypherpunk values, at a time when debates around protocol neutrality and censorship resistance are intensifying. Governance changes do not move prices in the short term, but they shape the network’s long-term trajectory — and therefore its appeal to developers and institutional investors alike.

On the technical side, ETH is trading within a range between $1,875 and $1,930. Immediate resistance sits just below $1,930: a convincing daily close above that level would reopen the path toward the psychological threshold of $2,000, with an extended target at $2,100. The critical support to defend remains the $1,870 zone.
On a pullback, the $1,700–$1,750 floor represents the next structural support level. A break below that zone would meaningfully weaken the medium-term structure and shift focus back to the $1,600–$1,680 range. The base case remains consolidation within the current range, as market participants digest the latest Fed decisions and monitor evolving flows into spot Ethereum ETFs.
On that note, Ethereum ETF flows remain a key catalyst to watch closely. Sustained net inflows would provide additional tailwinds for a breakout above $1,930. Conversely, an unfavorable macro backdrop — particularly a prolonged hawkish stance from the US central bank — could keep selling pressure elevated and cap near-term upside potential.
Beyond the immediate price action, Caversaccio’s integration into the Foundation’s board strengthens Ethereum’s fundamental case across several dimensions. Protocol security, censorship resistance, and open-source credibility are differentiating factors that institutional investors weigh in their risk assessments. A network perceived as more robust and less susceptible to political compromise attracts greater long-term capital.
The Silviculture Society, of which Caversaccio is an active member, works precisely on these issues: protocol neutrality, transaction privacy, and resilience against regulatory pressure. In an environment where the regulatory compliance of public blockchains is under increasing scrutiny, this work could prove decisive in preserving Ethereum’s unique value proposition against more centralized competitors.
For traders, the key signal remains technical: a confirmed breakout above $1,930 on strong volume would be the trigger for a move toward $2,000. For long-term investors, Caversaccio’s appointment reinforces the thesis of an Ethereum that is consolidating its foundations — both literally and figuratively.
