Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Makes Waves with New Video Release
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stirred up the crypto community by showcasing an unconventional interaction with a robot in a recent video. While some see it as a quirky display of his eccentricity, others question the potential implications for Ethereum's price.
The viral video shows Vitalik Buterin kneeling in front of a four-legged robot, simulating a “meow” before petting it on the head. This bizarre scene instantly sparked a frenzy of speculations in the crypto sphere, with many investors wondering about the impact it could have on the price of Ethereum (ETH).
Some crypto influencers like Wendy O have dubbed Buterin as the “holder of Ethereum’s destiny”, implying that his every move can affect the value of the second-largest cryptocurrency. Others, like the pseudonymous trader “sgp,” joked by noting that Ethereum was dipping by 5% as Buterin played with a robot.
Although Buterin has not publicly commented on this video yet, his eccentric behaviors regularly make headlines in the crypto media. In September 2024 at the Token2049 event in Singapore, he had already surprised many by criticizing the “cheesy anthems” of some projects and starting to sing on stage.
Ethereum Price to $1300 ?
Despite Buterin’s efforts to evolve Ethereum, such as his recent proposals to reduce fees and strengthen the network, Ethereum’s price remains under pressure. Since its fall from above the $4,000 mark in December 2024, the cryptocurrency has lost nearly 55% of its value.
At the time of writing, Ether is trading at $1,841, down by 13.34% over a month, according to CoinMarketCap data. However, some traders like Alex Becker remain convinced that an Ethereum below $2,000 presents an interesting long-term buying opportunity.
The #1 cause of this is greedy eth L2s siphoning value from the L1 and the social consensus that excess token creation was A-OK. Eth was buried in an avalanche of its own tokens. Died by its own hand.
The waning appeal of Ether as an investment is also attributed, according to venture capitalist Nic Carter, to value drained by layer-2 solutions and a lack of community response to excessive token creation.
Whether discussing his unusual interactions with robots or his efforts to advance Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin remains a central and captivating figure in the crypto space. As the price of Ether goes through turbulent times, observers continue to closely monitor the every move of this young visionary, whose destiny seems intimately linked to that of the second cryptocurrency behind Bitcoin.
