Ethereum Still Undervalued Despite Record Highs
Ethereum recently crossed the symbolic $5,000 threshold, breaking its previous price record. Despite this impressive growth, major British bank Standard Chartered believes the second most important cryptocurrency remains significantly undervalued.
According to analyst Geoffrey Kendrick, Ethereum still lags behind Bitcoin in many areas. Notably, flows into Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are just beginning, and companies are only starting to warm up to the idea of holding ETH in their reserves.
Yet Kendrick is convinced this lag conceals significant growth potential. If ETF adoption and corporate acceptance accelerate, it could trigger a new wave of demand and cause Ethereum prices to explode.
Ambitious Forecasts
In this context, Standard Chartered projects Ethereum to reach $7,500 by the end of 2025. And that’s not all: in the longer term, the bank even estimates ETH could climb to $25,000 by 2028!
Of course, this ambitious scenario depends on two key factors: Broader adoption of Ethereum ETFs, and greater acceptance among companies looking to hold ETH as a strategic asset. These developments remain uncertain at this stage.
Indeed, while Bitcoin is now recognized as a credible digital alternative to gold, Ethereum has not yet acquired this safe-haven status in the eyes of the general public. However, analysts remain convinced that its time will soon come.
Staking: Ethereum’s Competitive Advantage
Another advantage Ethereum has over Bitcoin is staking. By holding ETH in staking pools, companies can generate passive income. Currently, ETFs cannot practice staking in the United States, but lifting this restriction could attract a strong influx of capital to Ethereum.
According to Kendrick, the cryptocurrency market is poised to enter a new growth phase. He even predicts Bitcoin reaching $200,000, with a peak of $135,000 this year and up to $500,000 by 2028. Standard Chartered’s forecasts for Ethereum are therefore highly ambitious and could offer considerable gains for savvy investors.
