After an explosive summer rally of over 200%, NEAR Protocol is pulling back — and traders are getting nervous. The token has already shed 15% from its local top, and technical signals are pointing toward a continued decline.

A bearish reversal candle has just formed on the chart — a signal analysts cannot afford to ignore. The question is no longer whether the correction continues, but how far it can go.

Here is a breakdown of the key levels to watch and the possible scenarios for NEAR in the sessions ahead.

A 200% Rally Followed by a Sharp Reversal

NEAR Protocol daily chart

NEAR Protocol posted one of the most impressive performances in the market this summer, surging over 200% during the season. The token reached a local top at $5.58, driven by renewed interest in alternative Layer 1 projects and growing adoption momentum across the platform.

But since that peak, price action has shifted dramatically. NEAR is now trading around $4.78, representing a 15% pullback in a short space of time. This kind of correction following a parabolic move is technically healthy — but the formation of a bearish reversal candle on the weekly or daily timeframe changes the picture entirely. This signal suggests sellers have regained control and that bullish momentum has been exhausted.

On the market sentiment front, selling pressure appears to be intensifying. Volume during the declining phase is outpacing that recorded during the most recent sessions of upside — a classic sign of distribution. Traders who accumulated at the lower end of the range are beginning to lock in profits, mechanically weighing on the price.

The Technical Levels That Will Determine What Comes Next

If the correction continues, analysts have identified a critical support zone between $3.80 and $4.00. This range represents an additional decline of roughly 20% from current levels — which would bring the total pullback from the local top to nearly 35%. This scenario is far from unlikely: after a 200% rally, a Fibonacci retracement to the 38.2% or 50% level is statistically common.

The $4.20 area represents a first intermediate support level to watch closely. A daily close below this level would open the door toward $3.80, and potentially toward the $3.50 zone in the event of a more pronounced capitulation. Conversely, a recovery above $5.00 would invalidate the short-term bearish scenario and could reignite a move back toward the local top.

Momentum indicators such as the RSI on the daily chart are showing a bearish divergence since the peak, confirming the fading strength of the move. The MACD, meanwhile, is beginning a negative crossover — an additional signal that the bears currently have the upper hand.

NEAR Faces a Market Maturity Test

Beyond pure technicals, this correction is putting the fundamental thesis around NEAR Protocol to the test. The project continues to develop its decentralized AI infrastructure and its ecosystem of Autonomous Chains — the catalysts that fueled the summer rally in the first place. These fundamentals remain intact, but in the short term they are not enough to offset selling pressure in a market operating in risk-off mode.

On-chain liquidity across the major DEXs integrating NEAR has also declined over recent sessions, which mechanically amplifies price volatility. In a low-depth market environment, price moves can be exaggerated in both directions — to the upside as well as the downside.

The next 48 to 72 hours will be decisive. If NEAR consolidates above $4.50 on declining volume, that could signal a simple pause before a recovery. But if selling pressure accelerates, the scenario of a total 35% correction from the top will become the base case for active traders.
