PayPal, the fintech giant, has just launched "Pay with Crypto," a groundbreaking solution set to revolutionize global cryptocurrency payment adoption.
PayPal, the financial services giant, has just launched its brand new “Pay with Crypto” service with the aim of democratizing payments in cryptocurrencies and transforming cross-border commerce for merchants. This feature, which will initially be available only to American merchants, will enable near-instantaneous settlement of international transactions while reducing payment fees by up to 90%.
“Businesses of all sizes face incredible pressure when expanding globally, from increased costs for accepting international payments to complex integrations. Today, we’re removing these barriers and helping every business of all sizes achieve their goals,” said Alex Chriss, President and CEO of PayPal.
With “Pay with Crypto,” PayPal aims to connect merchants to the crypto asset market, valued at nearly $4 billion. The platform will offer support for more than 100 cryptocurrencies, including the most popular ones like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL). Merchants will also be able to accept payments in stablecoins such as Tether (USDT) and USDC).
This payment solution will also be compatible with major crypto platforms including Coinbase, OKX, Binance, and Kraken, as well as with reputable wallets such as Phantom, MetaMask, and Exodus. This will allow merchants to reach not only the more than 650 million users of cryptocurrencies, but also potentially increase their revenue margins.
In conclusion, PayPal’s decision to facilitate crypto payments with support for over 100 cryptocurrencies demonstrates the rise of digital assets and the growing interest of businesses in this new form of payment. This initiative should help accelerate adoption of cryptocurrencies globally, offering merchants new opportunities for growth and cost reduction.
