Treasury Company Bets on Solana to Boost Its Stock Price
DeFi Development Corp experienced a 17% surge in its stock price after announcing a $2.7 million investment in the cryptocurrency Solana (SOL). This acquisition is part of the company’s long-term strategy to diversify its treasury holdings.
DeFi Development Corp. purchased 17,760 SOL tokens at an average price of $153.10, bringing its total Solana reserves to 640,585 SOL, valued at approximately $98 million. The company stated its intention to hold these tokens long-term and place them in staking to generate yields.
Described by its director, Marco Santori, as the “MicroStrategy for everything else”, the company announced back in April that it would begin by accumulating Solana.
A Spectacular Stock Market Rebound
This announcement sparked enthusiasm among investors, causing DeFi Development Corp.’s stock price to jump nearly 17% to reach $23.80. After the market close, the stock climbed an additional 0.8% to settle at $24. In just two days, the share price has surged 30% from its Wednesday low of $18.47.

Despite a 30% decrease in quarterly revenue and a 15.5% drop in net profit margin, DeFi Development Corp. continues to attract investor attention thanks to its solid treasury strategy.
The company recently raised $112.5 million through private placements, part of which will be used to acquire more SOL. With promising prospects for Solana, DeFi Development Corp. appears well-positioned to weather market turbulence.
Moreover, Marco Santori is the former CLO of Kraken and a partner at Pantera Capital. His experience in crypto gives the company an advantage in the universe of public companies venturing into cryptocurrency.
In summary, DeFi Development Corp. once again demonstrates that betting on cryptocurrencies, particularly Solana, can prove rewarding for companies looking to diversify their treasury holdings. With this strategic acquisition, the company affirms its confidence in the future of the Solana network and its ambition to capitalize on the growth of the crypto asset sector.
