Solana, the Blockchain of the Future

The quest for decentralization sits at the heart of crypto ecosystem debates. Justin Bons, founder and Chief Investment Officer of Cyber Capital, claims that Solana is destined to become the most decentralized blockchain, even surpassing Ethereum on this criterion.

According to Bons, true decentralization is reflected in revenue generated at scale, not in artificially low hardware requirements. Solana has apparently adopted this approach, whereas Ethereum delegates revenue-generating activities to upper layers.

“Fees are what will ultimately pay for the majority of security, scarcity, and decentralization,” he states. Solana, thanks to its layer 1 scalability, would thus be better positioned to capture these revenue streams on its main chain, rather than outsourcing them.

Decentralization Indicators Favoring Solana

Bons compares the Solana and Ethereum networks on key metrics. He particularly emphasizes that Solana’s Nakamoto coefficient of 19 is significantly higher than Ethereum’s mere 2. This would demonstrate a better distribution of staking across the Solana network. Moreover, he believes Solana has more decentralized governance than Ethereum.

Justin Bons predicts that, thanks to its security and fee-driven governance, Solana will eventually surpass Ethereum in all aspects of decentralization. According to him, Solana’s roadmap, focused on scalability and fee capture, will allow it to establish long-term dominance over Ethereum.
