Litecoin Breaks Below Its Trendline: Is LTC Heading Toward $40?

Litecoin has broken below its key support trendline. With a bearish order block at $44, LTC could be heading toward the $40 support level.

Litecoin has just crossed a critical technical threshold, breaking below its bullish support trendline. This is a signal traders simply cannot ignore.

Following a failed retest, the former support has flipped into resistance — a classic pattern that often precedes an accelerated move to the downside.

With a bearish order block weighing on price, the $44 zone is now under serious pressure. The next target to watch: $40.

The Technical Break That Changes Everything for LTC

Litecoin had been trading within a well-defined ascending channel for several weeks, supported by a rising trendline that acted as a floor for buyers. That structure has now given way. LTC broke below this dynamic support, confirming a short-term market structure shift — a signal that technical analysts take very seriously.

What makes the situation worse is the retest that followed the breakdown. Price briefly pushed back up toward the former trendline, but sellers immediately reasserted control. This behavior — known as a pullback into reconfigured resistance — validates the break and reinforces the short-term bearish bias. The market has clearly rejected any attempt at a swift recovery.

On the momentum front, indicators confirm the deterioration. The RSI is trending lower without reaching a clear oversold zone, leaving room for the decline to continue. Volume during the breakdown was above average, which adds weight to the move and reduces the likelihood of a false signal.

$44 as the Last Line of Defense Before a Drop to $40

The $44 zone now represents the key level bulls need to defend. This is where a bearish order block has been identified on the daily timeframe — an area where institutional sellers have historically placed orders. If LTC fails to stabilize here, the next natural target sits around $40, a major support level that has not been tested in several months.

Market psychology also plays a role. The $40 mark is a round number, typically associated with a strong reaction from buyers waiting on the sidelines. A test of this zone could trigger a technical bounce, but there is no guarantee that this floor will hold if selling pressure remains intense. Traders are closely monitoring volume and price behavior around these levels to anticipate the next directional move.

On the bullish side, a recovery scenario would require LTC to reclaim the broken trendline and close above the reconfigured resistance. Without that show of strength, any bounce attempt remains suspect and exposed to fresh rejection. The risk/reward ratio clearly favors sellers in the current setup.

Litecoin in a Broader Altcoin Market Under Pressure

The weakness in LTC is not solely explained by its own chart structure. The altcoin market is going through a difficult consolidation phase, with Bitcoin dominance drawing capital flows away from secondary assets. In this environment, cryptocurrencies with limited recent fundamental catalysts — such as Litecoin — are particularly vulnerable to technical corrections.

Litecoin has not benefited from any strong narrative in recent weeks: no major protocol upgrade, no announced institutional adoption, no notable integration. This absence of a catalyst leaves LTC entirely dependent on broader market sentiment and pure technical dynamics. In this context, the $44 and $40 levels become absolute reference points for assessing the strength of demand.

The next trading sessions will be decisive. If Bitcoin consolidates without a sharp pullback, LTC could find a temporary floor. On the other hand, a renewed wave of pressure across the broader crypto market would mechanically amplify the decline in Litecoin, with $40 as the immediate target and even lower levels in play should capitulation set in.
