The crypto market rarely offers such clear divergences. While the majority of altcoins are sinking deeper into their correction, Bittensor (TAO) is playing its own tune. TAO recently broke through the psychological $300 threshold, thrusting the token into the market spotlight with a 19.5% surge over 7 days, vastly outperforming the broader market which is down 2.2%. The price hit a local top at $377.8 before retracing to its current zone of $318 to $327.
This move is not mere speculation. Social engagement around TAO has exploded by 112% over 30 days, reaching 3.86 million interactions in 24 hours, which is 2.5 times its usual daily average. Behind this buzz lie concrete catalysts: the completion of the Covenant-72B decentralized training run, the launch of a private TAO trust by Grayscale, and the Targon subnet reporting $10.5 million in annual revenue.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang mentioned Bittensor’s Covenant-72B model on a major podcast, while investor Jason Calacanis publicly pitched TAO as a venture style opportunity with a 200x potential. This kind of institutional and media validation creates violent price swings in both directions.

TAO has consolidated around $315 following its run from $144 to $375. With the TD Sequential flipping to a bearish signal after triggering the rally, it points to a potential profit taking period. The identified supports at $305 and $286 are crucial lines of defense. Losing the $300 support would trigger a correction toward the $271 zone, which corresponds to the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level.
Conversely, analyst Michaël van de Poppe confirms TAO is in an uptrend and targets $500+, employing a strategy of buying on dips. The RSI sitting in overbought territory at 72 calls for a healthy consolidation before the next leg up.
The sector divergence is striking. The World Foundation sold 239 million WLD tokens via OTC transactions at an average price of $0.2719. This is roughly 97% below its all time high of $11.72 reached in March 2024. The first tranche is set to settle on March 20, 2026, and $40 million worth of tokens are immediately liquid on the market.
Onchain analysis from Lookonchain reveals a pattern repeated over the past two years: Worldcoin regularly distributes tokens through market makers like Flow Traders and Wintermute, creating persistent structural selling pressure. This is not a market correction; it is a continuous dilution mechanic that makes any sustainable bounce difficult to build.

TAO is fascinating because it is decoupling from the rest of the market just as AI narratives regain momentum. As long as $261 holds on a weekly close, the bullish structure remains intact. The $305 to $310 zone is the absolute must-defend level to maintain buying pressure.
Personally, I would not be an aggressive buyer at current levels following a 45% rally. The ideal setup would be a healthy consolidation around $305 to $315 with volatility compression, before considering an entry via a progressive DCA strategy. The potential is real, and the Bittensor ecosystem is generating tangible value. However, short term momentum is clearly in a digestion phase after such a violent move. Momentum indicators like the MACD will either confirm or invalidate the recovery in the upcoming sessions.
