The Suspension of Ripple’s Trial against the SEC

A US appeals court recently granted a 60-day suspension of the trial between Ripple and the SEC. This decision follows a joint request from both parties, claiming to be close to a provisional settlement that could resolve the remaining dispute.

Reportedly, Ripple is expected to pay a penalty of $50 million as part of this agreement. The remaining $75 million initially demanded by the SEC could be refunded to them based on court decisions.

However, the settlement process has been delayed. Experts believe that the parties are waiting for Paul Atkins to assume the role of SEC chairman before finalizing the decision.

An Imminent End to XRP’s Trial

If the SEC and Judge Torres approve the settlement agreement, experts like James Farrell believe that the Ripple trial against the SEC could end before June 2025.

“If the SEC approves both parties, then files the proposed decision request with Judge Torres, it should not take too long. In a similar case with Judge Caprini, it took 6 months, but only 3 weeks with Judge Parker in another case where the settlement was contingent on the decision being vacated.”

However, given years of legal battles and uncertainty, delays are still possible.

Ripple : A Potential Conclusion in 2027

If Judge Torres refuses to approve the settlement, the case would go back to the appeals court. This could then extend the end of the Ripple trial against the SEC until 2027, according to expert Ferrel.

“Assuming Torres takes 6 months to rule, the appeal hearing would likely be around July 2026, with the decision in January 2027.”

Despite these uncertainties, industry players are eager to see this legal saga come to an end, which could have a significant impact on the price of XRP.
