XRP Spot ETFs: The Long-Awaited Institutional Catalyst
The potential arrival of XRP spot ETFs in the US market is crystallizing expectations. Several applications are currently pending with the SEC, notably from Grayscale, Bitwise, and 21Shares. The administrative blockage linked to the partial government shutdown has temporarily frozen procedures, but observers anticipate decisions between late November and mid-December 2025.
Approval of these regulated investment vehicles could trigger a significant supply shock. The influx of institutional capital isn’t limited to direct purchases on retail exchanges: It involves leveraged positions, hedging strategies, and sustained buying pressure. The Bitcoin precedent, which experienced meteoric appreciation after the launch of its spot ETFs, fuels this bullish thesis.
Jake Claver and his team suggest that approximately $550 billion in fresh liquidity would be sufficient to propel XRP toward $100. The reasoning is based on a market multiplier: Each dollar entering generates a greater impact on price when the available supply on platforms becomes scarce. This dynamic, already observed during previous bull runs, could repeat with increased intensity if institutional demand accelerates.
Ripple Positions at the Heart of Financial Infrastructure
The acquisition of Hidden Road for $1.25 billion marks a major strategic turning point. This prime brokerage firm now allows Ripple to offer institutional settlement services via the XRP Ledger. Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, emphasized that this complete prime broker license constitutes a first for a blockchain company in the United States.
In practical terms, giants like BlackRock can now use the XRPL to execute regulated transactions in a secure environment. This integration into traditional financial circuits addresses a real need: Replacing aging systems like SWIFT with instantaneous and low-cost alternatives. The XRP Ledger processes payments in seconds for negligible fees, whereas current rails require several days and high costs.
The modernization of payment infrastructures represents a market of several trillion dollars daily. If XRPL captures even a fraction of these flows, XRP’s valuation could explode. The $100 scenario would imply a market capitalization of approximately $6 trillion, a 45-fold increase from current levels. Ambitious, certainly, but technically feasible if macroeconomic conditions align.
